About Us

About Robin

My interest in photography was sparked by using a camera within an art lesson in my early teens. My mum and dad bought me an instructional camera magazine which I read from cover to cover and kept for years after.
With my first ever pay cheque I bought an Olympus OM10. I still have it with a few lenses in an old silver camera box. It still takes a great photo!
As my career developed I had less and less time for my hobby. It was not until many years later when some friends came to stay with us and showed us their digital Nikons that my interest re-ignited. My wife – Alison, who always took great photos with the small point and shoots, also became interested in the digital world and so we now enjoy exploring photography together – we simply love it.
I enjoy taking all types of photography and tackling the challenges that comes with the different genres and styles. It always gives me great pleasure to see good photos and if some of them are my own then that too is very pleasing.
Outside photography I am a professional executive coach and course architect, specialising in Leadership and Personal Effectiveness.

About Ali

I’ve always loved taking photographs. I was 15 when my nephew and then my niece arrived on the scene and I think they were the most photographed children in Scotland! I moved to London at the age of 21 and then with a corporate job most of my photography was limited to holidays. I left the corporate world in 2006 and delved into the world of bookselling. I got my first DSLR in 2008 and at the same time I was organising lots of author events in my bookshop. I realised the local paper didn’t always have the staff to send to cover the events so I started taking photos of the authors myself and sending them into the paper. I was delighted when they used my pictures and it gave me more confidence about my photography. Around this time I also started using Lightroom to process my photographs and found the ability to make post production adjustments extremely satisfying. It was also a hobby that my husband Robin and I could share and we quickly discovered that being out and about with the cameras is a great way to start talking to people
I particularly enjoy garden photography and have been delighted to be a finalist in the macro art category of International Garden Photographer of the Year in Competitions 10 and 11 and commended in the Beauty of Plants category in Competition 12 (www.igpoty.com). I’ve also been shortlisted in another international macro competition, Close Up Photographer of the Year.

About The Business

(written by Alison)

In 2013 we moved across the country to Gloucestershire and I thoroughly enjoyed documenting our new county taking lots of images of the places we visited. Once again I decided to turn my hobby into a business that Rob and I could both share and so  Cotswold House Photography was born.  Robin and I have always trained and coached people as part of our jobs and so helping people get the most out of their cameras comes naturally to us and is very rewarding.
Our home and our studio are in Bourton-on-the-Water. We could not have found a prettier spot to take our pictures and to work with people on theirs.
