What We Do

Join us… Learning about photography and your camera. Experiencing the beautiful Cotswolds. Creating exciting images. Tuition often available at short notice…just give us a call to check availability. We love getting out and about with our cameras, taking photographs, developing them on the computer and creating wonderful images. We want to help you realise the potential of your camera and feel confident using all the many features that your camera has to offer.

If you have a compact or bridge camera and you are thinking of getting a DSLR we can also give you the opportunity to use one, to see what a difference it can make to your photography and to help you in your decision making process. We have both an entry level Canon and an entry level Nikon for this very purpose. We also have different lenses you can try. We also have a Nikon Z50, an interchangeable lens mirrorless camera which you might like to try if you are considering a move to mirrorless technology.

There’s two of us and we usually have a maximum of two people on a course so you very often get one to one tuition. If we do ask you to share the day with someone else then we will try to make sure you want similar things out of the session. We offer half day and full day courses. We can shape each day around you, your camera and what you want to learn. It’s a chance to visit some beautiful places while feeling you are developing your photography. We show some typical courses we can provide here but it’s always worth giving us a call and discussing your personal requirements. Always priding ourselves on being flexible, with the social distancing requirements that have come to pass in 2020, if you prefer we can combine virtual training and face-to-face training to help you with your photography but to keep us all feeling safe.

13.00

15.30 – 16.00

16.00 – 17.30

Editing of images and review of the day.

Usually this will cost £189 and lunch and coffees/teas and biscuits are all provided. Entry fees to parks, castles etc will be extra. The half day version of this course is typically £99 and runs from 10am to 2pm or 1.30pm to 5.30pm. It does not include lunch and has only one field trip (in Bourton on the Water) but working with the editing software is included. We have a special offer where you book a second, separate half day at the same time as the first for a total of £158. We have developed this package as we have found that two separate sessions with some practising in between (we will give you practise tasks) is a really good way to learn, reinforce and retain the information.

Virtual Details

Usually our training is face to face but in the current world of social distancing we have developed a virtual one to one course to make sure you can still get the most out of your digital camera whilst staying safe.

The course consists of three “one to one” zoom calls, to fit with your schedule (usually over a two to four week period). Cotswold House Photography has the zoom account and all you will have to do is follow the instructions when we first send you the details to join the call on your computer or tablet. It is comprised of instruction on the best camera settings for different occasions, shooting modes (aperture priority and shutter priority), improved composition and editing your images.

You will be given ideas for practise tasks to complete between the calls and your images will be reviewed on the video calls. Being “one to one”, the training will still focus on you, your camera of choice and the things you like to photograph. The cost is £99. If you prefer, then after the first two zoom calls we can hold a socially distanced practise session in Bourton on the Water so you can get some direct feedback.
